Why you ask...
Inspired by Hailey & Ashlee (Winnipeg girls) who I love like daughters, Motivated by my father who is fighting colon cancer, Focused by my late Grandfather who lost his life to it and Determined to finish ahead of these beautiful girls! When asked to support these ladies through donation, I thought no way, I want to join this team. Admittedly I'm out of my league, they train at the gym, I don't. They are in their 20's and well, I'm not. I haven’t battled cancer but I will go to war through this race by crossing the line before they do!
My birthday is on June 1st so to all my family and friends the only gift I will accept from you is a contribution to this cause (plus you’ll receive a tax receipt). Anything else will be a “take it back”. My goal is to double their fundraising efforts, makes perfect sense - I’m twice their age. I’ve laid down the gauntlet; if you are in my demographic bracket (4th decade) know that I will put a check in the win column for us and to my sons, it’s best if you support your Mother on this one. As my dear friend Michelle says “Well have you met me”?
In summary the Alberta Cancer Foundation’s Underwear AffairŽ - is a 10K run to uncover cures for cancers below the waist. It’s not only fun, but it fights prostate, colon, testicular, and ovarian cancer, among others. I’ll be just one of thousands of people gathered on the streets of Calgary this summer in the biggest Affair this town has ever seen!
Please donate to me! Don’t be shy - it’s about giving these devastating cancers some exposure and shedding some light on their cures. So help me in my effort to raise money for care and research for cancers "down there"
The Affair is a 10K run in Calgary, taking place on June 5, 2010.
